Pierce, Garnett return to Celtics lineup

A night after resting starters Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, Celtics coach Doc Rivers says that both will be in the starting lineup against the Orlando Magic. With Boston having already clinched a playoff berth, Garnett and Pierce both sat out the Celtics' loss Friday night at Miami. Mavericks sign G Josh Akognon for rest of season

The Dallas Mavericks have signed guard Josh Akognon for the rest of the season after he joined them on a 10-day contract this month. Akognon made his NBA debut Wednesday night against Phoenix and hit his only shot and had an assist in 4 minutes. He signed his original deal April 3. Roy Hibbert scored eight of his 18 points in the fourth quarter playing with a broken nose, and five of his teammates also scored in double figures to help the Indiana Pacers beat the Los Angeles Lakers 98-96 on Sunday night. Kobe Bryant scored 33 points for the Lakers, but missed what would have been a tying 3-pointer from 30 feet from the top of the key with 3.5 seconds to play and the Pacers clinched it at the free throw line. John Lucas III scored a career-high 25 points filling in for injured Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls beat the Washington Wizards 78-64 on Wednesday for their third victory in three nights. Lucas, starting for the first time in his 70-game NBA career, was at the point in place of MVP Rose, who was out with a sprained big left toe.
