Allen Crabbe scored 24 points, Justin Cobbs added 20 and the Cal men’s basketball team pulled away in the final 6 minutes to beat Pacific 78-58 on Sunday to win the DirecTV Classic. Five-time Olympian Missy Franklin signs to swim for Cal

Five-time Olympic medalist Missy Franklin made it official Wednesday, signing a national letter of intent to swim for the Cal women’s team starting in September. Cal coach Jeff Tedford said he expects to meet next week with athletic director Sandy Barbour to discuss his future after the Golden Bears finish their worst season during Tedford’s tenure. Bridgford may get chance on big stage for Cal

Allan Bridgford prepares each week as if he is the starting quarterback for Cal. The difference this week is he could likely get that chance for the Golden Bears against No. 2 Oregon because starter Zach Maynard is hampered by an injured left knee. Cal was sliding into oblivion with a 1-4 record when it produced its best game of the season in a 43-17 victory over UCLA on Oct. 6.
