James Mitchell, the heir to the Mitchell Brothers adult film business, was sentenced to 35 years to life this morning for killing his ex-girlfriend, Danielle Keller, and kidnapping their young daughter two years ago. Police activity shuts down Highway 4 in Pittsburg

State Highway 4 is shut down in both directions in Pittsburg this morning because of police activity, a California Highway Patrol officer said. The activity, which began shortly before 7 a.m., is occurring on the overcrossing at Loveridge Road, forcing authorities to block both eastbound and westbound traffic, CHP Officer Peter Van Eckhardt said.Westbound motorists are being detoured off the highway at Somersville Road in Antioch, he said. Police identify S.F. man fatally shot early Tuesday

Police are still searching for clues in the fatal shooting in Pittsburg Tuesday morning of a San Francisco man who had no criminal record and no apparent ties to the city, Pittsburg police Lt. Brian Addington said today. Officers responded to a report of a shooting at Marina Walk Park on West Sixth Street at about 3 a.m. Tuesday and found 22-year-old Benjamin Merrill suffering from a gunshot wound, Addington said.
