Flights from SFO to London, Paris canceled due to volcano

A volcanic eruption in Iceland has caused the cancellation Thursday of several flights from San Francisco International Airport to European destinations including London and Paris. An ash cloud from the volcano has prompted the closure of all British airports until at least 7 a.m. local time Friday. Airports in France have been shut down as well. As a result, five nonstop flights to London from San Francisco were canceled today, airport spokesman Mike McCarron said. Read More

WHAT: Passengers on a US Airways flight from Philadelphia to San Francisco on Saturday were exposed to tuberculosis when a sick man on a no-fly list was allowed to take the six-hour trip. The unidentified passenger was placed on the “Do Not Board” list one day earlier because of his condition, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Read More

Man arrested for allegedly filing fake luggage claim at SFO

A Modesto man was arrested this morning for filing a fraudulent lost baggage claim at San Francisco International Airport in late October. Jose Betances, 39, was arrested around 7:30 a.m. and charged with one count of grand theft following a month-long investigation by the Cargo Theft Task Force, San Mateo County Sheriff's Office Detective Sgt.
