Crook gives up bank heist after teller befuddled by note

Perhaps the crook had bad penmanship. A man quit an apparent attempt to rob a bank in downtown San Francisco on Tuesday after the teller was befuddled by his note, police said. The would-be bank bandit entered the bank in the unit block of Front Street around 10 a.m. and presented his note to the teller, police said. Police: Mission shop robbery an inside job

An armed robbery at a Mission district business Monday morning appears to have been an inside job, police said.An employee of a business in the 2700 block of Mission Street was arrested after cops discovered she was in cahoots with the masked crook that stormed in toting a knife and fled with “a large sum of money” about 8 a.m., police said.The employee, a 19-year-old woman, and the suspect, an 18-year-old man, were taken into custody by responding officers. A woman was robbed and pepper-sprayed by two young girls in the South of Market area Thursday, police said. The victim was walking along the sidewalk in the 800 block of Mission Street around 6:15 p.m. when one of the teenaged girls peppers-sprayed her while the other snatched the woman’s phone, police said. Crooks flash two guns while robbing 12-year-old of bicycle

A 12-year-old boy was robbed of his bicycle at gunpoint in the Bayview-Hunters Point over the weekend, cops said. A woman was robbed of her cellphone at gunpoint in Potrero Hill on Wednesday, police said. The 48-year-old victim was walking in the 900 block of Hampshire Street when she was flanked by two male suspects, cops said. One of the crooks was a teenager and the other’s age was unknown. A wacky woman was watched by a witness as she used a Christmas tree to light a building on fire in The City's SoMa district Tuesday.
