The 56-year-old victim was crossing the unit block of Sixth Street around 5:45 a.m. when a man wielding a stick walked up behind him and hit him in the shoulder, police Officer Albie Esparza said. The woman was robbed as she walked on El Camino Real toward Southwood Drive about 4:15 p.m. The crook leaped out of a van, pushed her to the ground and then grabbed her backpack with the cash. He then pointed a gun at her and told her not to call the police or he would kill her, police said.

The suspects, described by police as men in their late 20s, approached the two victims, aged 25 and 27, at Hayes and Octavia streets around 12:45 a.m., police said.
