A woman was choked and robbed by four thugs early Wednesday in the Portola district, police said. The 23-year-old victim was near Harvard and Felton streets about 12:15 a.m. when the group snuck up behind her, choked her, and took her purse and book bag, police said. The crooks fled down Harvard Street in either a gray or green Honda or Toyota sedan, police said.

The 31-year-old victim was in the 2900 block of 20th Street around 12:25 a.m. when one of four suspects “jumped out” at him and he took off running, police said. Two men in their 20s approached the 18-year-old victim on Mission Street near Ottawa Avenue around 10 p.m. and demanded he turn over his bag, Esparza said. The victim complied. The victim was standing in the 1000 block of Newhall Street about 12:15 a.m. when a Ford Taurus with three men inside drove up to the 37-year-old, police said.
