Umbrella-toting bandit robs bank in San Francisco’s North Beach

On a perfectly sunny Saturday morning, a careful crook toting an open umbrella robbed a bank in San Francisco’s North Beach district, police said.The bandit used the opened umbrella to conceal himself from surveillance cameras during a heist at the Bank of the West on Columbus Avenue just after 9 a.m.The suspect was already difficult to identify. A 37-year-old man who couldn’t remember where he parked in North Beach on Thursday was punched and robbed by a goon who offered to help in the search, cops said.The victim was at a bar in the 500 block of Green Street. Police shot two bystanders while pursuing a suspect who was wielding a firearm in a troublesome North Beach area early Saturday morning. Neither of the bystanders sustained life-threatening injuries, police said. Man critically injured in Cow Hollow stabbing, one of four Sunday

A man was critically injured after being stabbed during an argument in Cow Hollow, one of at least four stabbings in a two-hour period in San Francisco on Sunday. The 33-year-old man got into an argument with five people while walking in the 3100 block of Buchanan Street around 2 a.m., police said. He was stabbed in the abdomen before the suspects, described as Hispanic men in their 30s, fled. The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital. Read More
