San Francisco firefighters have controlled a two-alarm fire that burned Thursday morning at a home near Glen Park owned by the parents of Supervisor Sean Elsbernd, a fire lieutenant said. Bay Bridge lanes closed after tour bus catches fire

Several westbound lanes of the eastern span of the Bay Bridge were closed to traffic late Tuesday morning after an out-of-state tour bus caught fire, according to the California Highway Patrol. A boom followed by a flash and smoke from a Financial District manhole was not an explosion but a cable failure, according to PG&E. Joe Molica, PG&E spokesman, said officials are trying to determine the 6:30 a.m. incident at the intersection of Battery and Pine Street. The failed cable will be sent to a forensics lab, he said. A smoky two-alarm high rise fire in the Tiffany & Co. building on Union Square shut down Post Street and sent nine firefighters to the hospital. The fire was reported at 6:55 p.m. after smoke was seen billowing out of the top of the building at 360 Post, right on Union Square, said fire Lt. Ken Smith.
