San Francisco restaurant victim of arson; man detained but released

Police are hunting for those responsible for an arson incident last weekend at a Financial District restaurant. The one-alarm fire broke out at 7 Pleasures California Grill & Bakery at 554 Commercial St., which is about a block from the Transamerica Pyramid building. A firefighter was reportedly transported to a hospital with minor injuries while battling the blaze. However, officials said the fire was quickly extinguished. Read More

A proposal to build a 425-foot corkscrew condo tower next to the 853-foot Transamerica Pyramid will be considered today by planning and parks commissioners. An official was absent when commissioners met Feb. 11 to rule on the proposal, postponing any decisions.
