Chemical chef causes Treasure Island blaze

A two-alarm fire on Treasure Island last weekend started when a 29-year-old man reportedly “gathered a bunch of cleaning chemicals such as Clorox and began cooking them to see what would happen,” police said Monday. Chad Ingram, 29, of San Francisco was booked into jail on a charge of unlawfully causing a fire in connection with the 4 a.m. blaze Sunday on Sturgeon Street near Avenue B, Officer Gordon Shyy said. A three-alarm fire that burned a home in the Pacific Heights neighborhood Wednesday afternoon caused $1.7 million in damage, according to the Fire Department. A 10-year-old girl died in a fire after becoming trapped inside her burning family home on San Francisco's Treasure Island early Saturday morning, an assistant San Francisco Fire Department chief said.
