Family of deceased former Raiders lineman joins NFL concussion lawsuits

The family of former Raiders offensive lineman Chris Riehm filed a lawsuit Friday contending that traumatic brain injury from repeated head injuries was a cause or contributing factor in Riehm’s death, asserting that the NFL “promoted and mythologized” violence. Riehm, an offensive lineman for the Raiders from 1986 to 1988, died in March in his home state of Ohio at the age of 50, officially of a heart attack. Read More

Raiders deal WR Murphy to Panthers

The Raiders traded wide receiver Louis Murphy to the Carolina Panthers for an undisclosed conditional draft pick. The NFL Network reported it is a conditional late-round pick. Murphy has 90 career receptions for 1,371 yards and six touchdowns in three seasons since being a fourth-round pick out of Florida. Raiders player pleads not guilty to DUI in S.F.

Raiders wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey passed on attending his own arraignment on DUI charges Thursday, having his attorney plead not guilty on his behalf in a San Francisco courtroom. Attorney Ivan Golde told the media after the hearing that the 25-year-old football star has no prior convictions and that the misdemeanor DUI arrest on the Bay Bridge last month was his first.
