Growling lady in San Francisco uses knife to get point across to cop

A “growling” woman with a knife was arrested Friday after raising the knife over her head in front of the Hall of Justice, according to police. About 1:15 p.m., police said, an officer in full uniform was entering the courthouse at 850 Bryant St. when he encountered the 43-year-old woman, who had been walking out of the building. After seeing the cop, she reportedly “raised the knife over her head and growled at the officer.” Read More

An AR-15 assault weapon was stolen from an unmarked police car over the weekend. San Francisco police said Sunday night that the weapon — which gained notoriety last year in mass shootings in Aurora, Colo., and Newton, Conn. — was in a cop car that was parked and secured when suspects broke into the vehicle and snatched the weapon. A Sacramento man allegedly shot up a Western Addition home with a fully automatic AK-47 on Sunday night, injuring a man inside, police said. Just after 2 a.m. Monday, police arrested 42-year-old Kareem Benton in the Bayview district. Vendor dies after Jan. 28 street attack

A 77-year-old man who was heartlessly hurled to the ground at Market and Post streets last month has died from his injuries, police said Monday. The attack that killed San Francisco resident Dallas Ayers occurred about 11 a.m. Jan. 28, police Officer Albie Esparza said. The suspect fled and remains at large. San Francisco Police officers have located a body off Pier 48 that appears to have been there for some time. Officer Albie Esparza told SF Weekly that police in the Marina District got a call at about 10:37 a.m. on reports of a body. Texas parolee accused of sexually assaulting S.F. woman

A man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of a sexual assault Saturday night in the Cathedral Hill neighborhood, police said Wednesday. Arthur Salinas, 57, was booked on several counts of aggravated and sexual assault and for failing to register as a sex offender, among other charges. Salinas has past sexual offense convictions in Texas; he was sentenced to 60 years in prison in 1982, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. He was paroled in 2009. Read More

Man seeking hooker experience at San Francisco motel is instead robbed and beaten

A shady meeting in a Tenderloin motel resulted in an assault and robbery Wednesday, police said. A 52-year-old man who was meeting a prostitute at the Civic Center Inn at 790 Ellis St. was robbed by a man in his 30s about 3:15 a.m., police said. The victim was in a room in the motel when the suspect came in and punched and kicked him, police said. The crook then fled with the victim’s cellphone, cash, jacket and phone case. Read More
