Man critically hurt in hit-and-run accident

A man was critically injured in a hit-and-run accident on Lombard Street on Saturday night, police said.The 24-year-old victim was hit when he reportedly ran across Lombard at about 11:40 p.m. outside the crosswalk.The driver failed to stop and fled the scene, police said. Man allegedly slashes mom with cake cutter

A man who assaulted his mother with a cake cutter at their home near City College of San Francisco was arrested Monday, police Officer Gordon Shyy said. The 52-year-old victim was arguing with her son, Nathan Nounou, 21, in the 100 block of Valdez Avenue about 5:17 p.m., Shyy said, when the argument escalated and Nounou allegedly grabbed the cake cutter and slashed his mother in the face, arms and legs. Neither rain, nor sleet nor thugs. A postal worker was almost robbed of her mail near Hallidie Plaza on Friday, police said. The 49-year-old female civil servant’s letters were snatched out of her hand at Eddy and Mason streets about 12:20 p.m., police said.
