Tipsy tyrant gets jail time for kicking cop

A man police say is one of The City’s most violent village drunks will be let out of jail next month. Arturo Pleitez, 50, is serving a 75-day sentence for kicking a cop during a drunken rampage in front of the Attic bar in the Mission district on Dec. 6. Life-threatening injuries in Mission Dolores shooting

A 20-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries in a shooting in San Francisco's Mission Dolores neighborhood on Friday night, a police spokesman said today. The shooting was reported at 10:58 p.m. Friday at the intersection of 20th and Dolores streets, San Francisco police Lt. Troy Dangerfield said. Suspect jailed in auto boosts

One man is in jail Wednesday night after he was caught trying to break into a car near Sansome and Sacramento streets. According to police, a passerby noticed a black male in his 50s checking out cars in Financial District. When he smashed a window to grab something out of a vehicle – often referred to as an “auto boost” – the onlooker called 911. SFPD announces 8 percent crime drop

San Francisco Police Chief George Gascón announced that crime in The City was down 8 percent in 2010 from 2009, and violent crime dropped 4 percent. There were 50 homicides last year, up from 45 in 2009, yet still the second-lowest total since the 1960s.
