Fatal stabbing reported at San Francisco homeless shelter

A 44-year-old man is dead after being stabbed while at a homeless shelter in The City’s South of Market neighborhood, police said late Monday. It was the fourth homicide reported in San Francisco this year.The stabbing occurred about 7:10 p.m. Monday at 525 Fifth St., police reported. A botched attempt to kidnap and rob a woman in South of Market led a pair of apparently dim muggers to engage in a wild police chase Friday, injuring a pedestrian in a wheelchair and damaging several cars and a tree, police said.
