A man beat and threatened a woman with a handgun before cutting her hands and face in the Laurel Heights area Thursday, cops said. The 46-year-old man and 23-year-old woman were apparently using drugs together in 2500 block of Sutter Street around 4 a.m., police said. Cabbie robbed at knifepoint in Western Addition

A cab driver was robbed at knifepoint in the Western Addition on Thursday, police said. The 70-year-old cabbie picked up the thief, described as a man in his 50s, and drove him to the intersection of Sutter and Baker streets around 1:50 a.m., police said. The passenger then pulled out a knife, put it to the cabbie’s throat, and demanded cash. The cab driver complied and the thug fled on foot, police said. A 52-year-old man was shot in the buttocks while working on his car in the Bayview on Wednesday, police said. The victim told police he heard about a half-dozen gunshots before realizing he’d been shot near the intersection of Hudson Avenue and Bertha Lane around 11:45 p.m. The injured man’s friend drove him to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for his injuries, which were not life threatening.
