San Francisco police dealt with two crime scenes early Wednesday after a man who was shot in the Tenderloin was brought by pals to a South of Market hotel.
Police responded to a hotel in the 200 block of Ninth Street just after 3 a.m. The victim, a man in his 20s, had a gunshot wound to his upper body that he had apparently suffered in the Tenderloin area, police said.

A woman was assaulted in the Tenderloin on Wednesday, possibly by a blow with a hammer, police said. The 52-year-old victim was attacked from behind at Post and Hyde streets around 6:40 a.m., police said. She was hit in the head, possibly with a hammer, by an unknown suspect and suffered lacerations to her head, police said. The woman was transported to the hospital for her injuries, which were not life threatening.

A man was stabbed while sleeping in the Tenderloin on Thursday, police said. The 60-year-old victim was sleeping in the 400 block of Turk Street around 4 a.m. when he woke up and realized he’d been stabbed in the chest, police said. He was suffered wounds to his stomach and arm. He was transported to the hospital for his injuries, which were not life threatening, police said. A man sustained a serious head injury in the Tenderloin on Wednesday night, police said. Officers investigating reports of a shooting in the 600 block of Eddy Street around 10:35 p.m. discovered a 38-year-old man with a blunt force trauma head injury, police Officer Albie Esparza said. The injury was not a gunshot wound, he said.

A man was stabbed in the chest in the Tenderloin on Thursday, police said. The 54-year-old victim was near the intersection of Turk and Jones streets around 7:45 p.m. when a man in his 40s asked for a dollar, cops said. The victim refused to give the man a dollar and the “incident escalated into a physical fight,” cops said. The panhandler then pulled out a sharp object and stabbed the victim in the chest.

Two people were hospitalized when a car crashed into a bar in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood on Sunday night, a fire department spokeswoman said.The accident was reported at 9:08 p.m. at the Hi-Tide Lounge at 600 Geary St.The car crashed into the side of the building, injuring two people inside the vehicle, fire spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said.

The American Red Cross has opened a shelter Sunday night to accommodate the more than 60 residents displaced this morning by a fire at 347 Eddy Street.
As of 6 p.m. Sunday, 65 out of the more than 120 residents in the building had requested assistance from the Red Cross. A shelter has been established at the City of Refuge church at 1025 Howard St.

More than two dozen people were displaced by an apartment fire Sunday in the Tenderloin, according to the San Francisco Fire Department.
The blaze likely was caused by a cigarette dropped into a lightwell, fire officials said.
The inferno at the six-story, 40-unit apartment building at 347 Eddy St. was reported just after 8 a.m., a dispatcher said. It was brought under control at about 10:30 a.m.
