A dirty, lowdown crook bit into a 61-year-old woman’s hand while stealing her laundry coins in Lower Nob Hill early Monday, police said.
About 6:30 a.m., police said, the victim was approached by two people while in an apartment building laundry room in the 1000 block of Bush Street, between Jones and Leavenworth streets.

A man was pistol-whipped during a Tenderloin carjacking early Tuesday in which three thugs toted two handguns and also a shotgun or rifle, police said.
About 3:30 a.m., police said, the victims, ages 33 and 28, were sitting in their stopped vehicle in the first block of Jones Street, near Market Street, when three armed men approached.

Douglas James Burrows, 26, of San Francisco, is accused of assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly sicking his leashed mastiff on a 55-year-old man during a broad-daylight attack in the Tenderloin on Sunday.
About 4:15 p.m., police said, officers responded to Eddy Street between Larkin and Polk streets and found the victim beaten and suffering from a dog bite on his hand. His injuries, however, are not life-threatening.

Demolition began Tuesday at the original St. Anthony’s Dining Room, which is being razed in order to construct a new facility in its place.
The dining room, located at 45 Jones St. in the Tenderloin, has served an estimated 38 million meals to low-income and homeless people since opening in 1950. It closed in February to make way for construction on the organization’s new dining room, set to open in summer 2014.

A walk down the usually safe streets of Russian Hill on Monday night turned into a horrifying experience for a woman who was beaten and robbed.About 10:30 p.m., police said, a 27-year-old woman was walking near Larkin and Greenwich streets when a man attempted to blind her with pepper spray. When that did not work, the suspect reportedly punched the woman in the face and head. He stole her purse and fled in a waiting vehicle, possibly a tan-colored American model.

A thief accused of robbing a mother with two children of an iPhone on Powell Street last week apparently had trouble hiding the mobile device in his sagging pants, police said.
After catching the suspect after a brief foot chase, officers reportedly found the phone “clenched” between his thighs.

A large forklift crane fell down at the intersection of Ellis and Leavenworth streets at about 7:30 a.m., Officer Gordon Shyy said.

The 46-year-old victim was walking in the 500 block of Geary Street about 1 a.m. when a man in his 20s approached from behind, police said. The crook grabbed her purse and fled on foot, police said. Police are searching for the gunman in a Tenderloin drive-by shooting that left a 42-year-old man with a wound to his leg, police said.
The shooting occurred about 3 a.m. Monday while the victim was standing in the 500 block of O’Farrell Street. A car drove by and fired four shots, police said.
Police do not know if the shooter and the victim know each other.
