Not much of Clint Bowyer’s résumé included the details of his road-racing exploits. Only three of his first 12 road races ended with top-five finishes, but the one-time Kansas dirt-tracker turned in a dominating Sprint Cup performance in the Toyota/Save Mart 350 on Sunday.
It was the first of NASCAR’s two annual events on road courses.

There aren’t too many in NASCAR who favor a road course over the traditional oval.
But there are a few.
“I didn’t like them until last year, cause I didn’t run good at ’em,” driver of the No. 20 car, Joey Logano, said, laughing, hard. “So when you come to a track that you run good at, you automatically love the place.”
That place is the site of today’s Toyota/Save Mart 350 race at the raceway in Sonoma, one of only two road courses in the Sprint Cup Series.

Fresh off winning a wet and fiery Daytona 500 on Monday, Matt Kenseth took a much slower ride through the streets of San Francisco on Thursday.Kenseth rode a motorized cable car across the Golden Gate Bridge to Fisherman’s Wharf, where he cracked crab and peeled shrimp with a chef at Fishermen’s Grotto, then headed over to Ghirardelli Square, where he signed autographs for cheering fans before making an ice cream sundae.

A.J. Allmendinger is back in the Bay Area, competing in today’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Toyota-Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway and doing what he’s done all of his life: simply drive cars.
Allmendinger grew up in Los Gatos always around a racetrack as he started off racing go-karts. He started racing stock cars in 2002, winning the Barber Dodge Pro Series Championship in 2002, and the Champ Car Atlantic Championship in 2003.

Bayne capped off his historic win by creating the very first Trevor Bayne Sundae, Sundae, Sundae, featuring rocky road, chocolate chip and chocolate ice cream, as well multiple toppings. A jury Thursday acquitted a homicide suspect plucked from a Nascar-themed limousine minutes after a 2007 homicide outside a Metreon bar.
Kenoye Stroman, 26, was accused of killing Ronald Jacques outside Jillian’s nightclub before fleeing in a red, white and blue limousine. He was with a group of seven men that sped away after the shooting on Sept. 16, 2007, and who were pulled over later in Oakland.
