Three women who fought injustice, dictatorship and sexual violence in Liberia and Yemen accepted the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize on Saturday, calling on repressed women worldwide to rise up against male supremacy.
"My sisters, my daughters, my friends — find your voice," Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf said after collecting her Nobel diploma and medal at a ceremony in Oslo.

Police are clashing on a downtown Moscow square with demonstrators trying to hold a second day of protests against alleged vote fraud in Russia's parliamentary elections.
Hundreds of police had blocked off Triumphal Square on Tuesday evening, then began chasing a demonstrators, seizing some and throwing them harshly into police vehicles.

Police clashed with demonstrators protesting vote fraud in Moscow and at least two other major Russian cities Tuesday, as anger boiled over against Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and his ruling United Russia party.
At least 250 people were detained by police at a protest in downtown Moscow, where flare-type fireworks were thrown at a group of pro-Kremlin youth, said city police spokesman Maxim Kolosvetov.

Some Russian voters are complaining of pressure from authorities to provide more votes for the ruling pro-Kremlin party in the upcoming parliamentary elections, an independent Russian election watchdog group said Wednesday.
Alexander Kynev, chief of research for the Golos group, said that compared to the previous election four years ago there appears to be less pressure on candidates than on voters.

Voting is extended into a second day in Congo, following an Election Day that was marred by the late delivery of ballots.
In precincts where voting material had arrived on time, counting on Tuesday was underway.
Pockets of violence were reported throughout the country. Five people were killed in the southeastern town of Lubumbashi on Monday after unidentified gunmen opened fire on a truck carrying ballots and on a polling center.

Polls have opened for a second day of voting in Egypt's landmark parliamentary elections, the first since Hosni Mubarak's ouster.
The turnout on the first day was massive, despite security concerns and turmoil over a deadly spate of violence in the week before the balloting. It reflects the nation's determination to break away from the past after 10 months of frustration over how the military rulers who took over from Mubarak are handling the transition.
