Police: fake nurse tried to get hospital pain meds

Seattle police are investigating reports that a fake nurse tried to obtain narcotic pain medication from several patients' rooms at Swedish Medical Center. Detective Jeff Kappel says hospital staff report that one patient saw the woman in his room manipulating a machine that allowed him to administer pain medication. The man's real nurse found that the line from his machine to his body had been cut and pain medication was dripping on the floor. Read More

The Idaho Transportation Department this week agreed to new regulations allowing transgender drivers to change the sex designation on their driver's licenses without a note from a surgeon, after two people complained that previous policy violated their civil rights. The U.S. Department of Agriculture says a Louisiana-based meat packing company has expanded a recall of meat products because of possible bacterial contamination. Workers hurt in collapse at Cincinnati casino site

A floor collapsed into a V shape Friday at the construction site of a new casino, sending workers sliding to the ground and leaving at least a dozen with broken bones, bumps or bruises.
