Katt Williams arrested in Oakland after show, accused of hitting man with a bottle

Comedian Katt Williams was arrested in Oakland early Thursday morning on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Williams’ tour bus was parked outside the Oakland Marriott when the alleged scuffle when down. An 18-year-old Berkeley man claims that Williams hit him in the head with a bottle on the bus, and police tracked Williams down several hours later and took him into custody. Read More

First case of West Nile in seven years reported in San Francisco

A San Francisco man is recovering after reporting the first human case of West Nile virus contracted locally in seven years, health officials said. The unidentified man, who was recovering at home, had not traveled outside the Bay Area recently, according to a statement from the San Francisco Department of Public Health. The department said there is no way to know if the man was infected within San Francisco or a surrounding county. Read More

Fears about West Nile-infected mosquitoes in San Mateo County are in the air since a squirrel, which is unlikely to have traveled very far, was confirmed to be carrying the virus.The case is this year’s first confirmed in the county. The dead squirrel was found July 28. Read More
