Oakland taps Hanson to fill CB spot

The Raiders finished sweeping out the cornerback position Monday when they signed unrestricted free agent Joselio Hanson and waived 2011 third-round draft pick DeMarcus Van Dyke. Oakland has six cornerbacks on its 53-man roster and none of them were with the organization last season. Son of Philadelphia Eagles coach found dead at training camp

Garrett Reid, the eldest son of Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid, was found dead at the NFL team’s preseason training camp on Sunday, officials said.Campus police responding to a 911 call at 7:20 a.m. EDT found Reid, 29, unresponsive in his room at the football team’s camp at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., Lehigh chief of police Ed Shupp said. San Francisco 49ers are legitimate once again

It is impossible to overstate the importance of the 49ers’ comeback win in Philadelphia on Sunday. For the first time in years, the Niners beat a good team on the road and, most important, they finished the game when they had the lead. They couldn’t do that against the Dallas Cowboys in the second game of the season. They had the Cowboys on the ropes with a 10-point lead and just 11 minutes left, but they let the Cowboys wriggle off the hook to tie the game and win in overtime. Read More
