The St. Petersburg, Fla., Police Department is threatening to suspend a veteran officer with a clean record because he warned the father of a teenage robbery victim about a dangerous part of town. Martinez man identified as slain shooter

A Contra Costa County sheriff's office spokesman identified 49-year-old Felix Sandoval Jr. Sunday as the man who was killed after he fatally shot a 44-year-old woman and a Martinez police sergeant Saturday near a hair salon in Martinez. Martinez police Sgt. Paul Starzyk and Catalina Torres, 44, were both killed during the incident, as was Sandoval, sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee said. Read More
