Suspicious device prompts partial Potrero Avenue closure

Southbound Potrero Avenue was closed between 20th and 21st streets Wednesday afternoon after workers reported a possible incendiary device inside a building in the area, according to police.

Officers responded to the building on the 800 block of Potrero just after 12:20 p.m. Workers were told to clear the immediate area but no evacuations have been ordered, police said.

The bomb squad is on scene evaluating the device.

The 33 Ashbury and 9 San Bruno bus lines are being rerouted around the area, according to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency.
