A suspected auto burglar struck a San Francisco police officer while fleeing Alamo Square in a vehicle Thursday afternoon, according to police.

The officer was taken to the hospital but is expected to survive after being hit near Pierce and Hayes streets at around 11:51 a.m., Officer Giselle Linanne said.

The officer was struck after viewing an auto burglary in progress, Linanne said.

The driver also hit another person who police said is possibly another suspect involved in the auto burglary.

The possible suspect’s condition is unknown.

Linanne said police appear to have suspects in custody at the scene.
