A suspect wearing a Star Wars mask was able to get away after robbing a Belmont donut shop at gunpoint early Monday morning, police said.

At 4:40 a.m. Monday, the suspect entered Chuck’s Donuts at 641 Ralston Avenue and brandished a black semiautomatic handgun, demanding that a female employee hand over cash.

The employee complied and gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect then fled on foot, heading east on Ralston Avenue, according to police.

The employee was not injured and investigators were able to obtain surveillance video of the robbery.

The suspect was described as being 6 feet tall, with a husky build and a medium complexion. He wore a white Star Wars character mask, a light blue baseball cap with a dark bill and what appeared to be a “Cal” logo on the front, a green sweatshirt with a light colored T-shirt underneath, blue jeans and black-and-white Vans shoes.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact Belmont police at (650) 595-7400 or police@belmont.gov.
