Suspect struck with bat in retaliation for Mission District stabbing

A man’s friends retaliated after he was stabbed by hitting the suspect in the head with a bat near the 16th and Mission BART station Monday evening, according to police.

The 30-year-old man got into a fight with the suspect around 6:30 p.m. at 16th and Mission streets, during which the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim in the left side of his torso .

The suspect, a man in his late forties, ran from the scene, but was followed by two friends of the victim, who allegedly struck him in the head with the bat before he was taken into custody by police.

Both the victim and the suspect were transported to a hospital.
