Suspect sought in downtown bleach attack that blinded woman

Police are asking for help finding a suspect who poured bleach on another person and caused them to lose their sight.

Friday, police released photos of the suspect that were taken by a surveillance camera.

On July 30 at about 7:30 p.m., police responded to the first block of Mason Street following a report of the attack.

Police said officers found a 53-year-old woman suffering injuries to her eyes and a loss of her vision.

The victim told police she was standing on the sidewalk in the 100 block of Eddy Street when the suspect approached her and told her to leave.

The suspect left the area and came back and poured bleach on her.

The suspect left the area on a red mountain bike toward the Powell Street BART/Muni station.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information related to the attack is asked to get in touch with police anonymously by calling (415) 575-4444 or by sending a text to TIP411 with SFPD at the start of the message.
