Surviving suspects in SF police shooting booked on robbery, conspiracy

Two apparent suspects in an armed robbery that led to a police shooting in the Mission District earlier this week were booked into jail Wednesday on suspicion of first-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit a crime charges.

Court and jail records show Cristina Juarez, 18, and Victor Navarro-Flores, 19, are each being held on $225,000 bail after their arrests at 21st and Capp streets, where police shot and killed 19-year-old Jesus Delgado-Duarte late Tuesday.

The three appear to be the suspects alleged to have robbed two men at 20th and Capp streets and fled in a black Honda Civic.

Delgado-Duarte was inside the trunk when police pulled the car over a block away. Based on witness video obtained by KPIX, Delgado-Duarte appears to have cracked the trunk open and fired a shot at officers before police unleashed the barrage of bullets that killed him.

Police said two other suspects were ordered out of the car and detained before the police shooting. Juarez and Navarro-Flores appear to be those suspects, though police have yet to confirm their identities.

A spokesperson for the District Attorney’s Office was not immediately available to confirm whether Juarez and Navarro-Flores have been charged in the case.

The police shooting prompted protests and a vigil in the Mission District on Wednesday. Those who knew him said Delgado-Duarte was also known as Adolfo and was a Mission local.

This was the second police shooting of the year in San Francisco. In February, seven officers shot 65 rounds at a homicide suspect who allegedly fired a handgun at them first. No one was injured in that exchange of gunfire.
