St. Anthony Foundation is home to a popular food kitchen, a technology lab, health services and a winter shelter for the homeless. This month, the center is adding to its repertoire, and is hosting a community drive for those in need of tampons and pads.
“Many homeless and low-income women in our community do not have access to feminine hygiene products,” the foundation states. “These items are requested at food pantries and shelters, yet organizations often do not have enough in stock.”
To remedy the issue on a local level, St. Anthony Foundation is holding a “Tsanitary Tsunami” drive, with the goal of collecting 1,000 boxes of pads and tampons by International Women’s Day on March 8.
Boxes and packages can be dropped off in person at St. Anthony Foundation ‘s location at 150 Golden Gate Ave. An Amazon wishlist has also been set up, so shoppers can buy items online and have them directly shipped to the Foundation.
