Mike Holmgren talked to the Raiders about him entering a possible leadership role with the team, although the title is unclear.

Former Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren reportedly has talked to the Raiders about a leadership role with the team.

It was unclear what the position would be, but ESPN.com reported it would include leading the pursuit of a new stadium for the Raiders.

Holmgren is familiar with one member of the Raiders front office: general manager Reggie McKenzie, whom Holmgren worked with while coaching the Packers. Plus, Holmgren knows the Bay Area very well, growing up in San Francisco and working as an assistant for the 49ers from 1986-91.

Last month, it was reported that the Raiders had talked to Ray Anderson, the NFL’s senior vice president for football operations, about a similar leadership position.

Holmgren was traveling abroad and was unavailable for comment.
