Giants' left-handed pitcher Jeremy Affeldt is happy to get some job security through his three-year contract with the franchise.

Jeremy Affeldt made it known he needed some job security — and the reliable reliever got it.

The left-hander and the World Series champion San Francisco Giants completed an $18 million, three-year contract Wednesday. Bobby Evans, the team’s vice president of baseball operations, said the deal had been finalized to keep Affeldt in the Bay Area.

“We are so happy to be back with our San Francisco family,” Affeldt said, in San Francisco for his physical and meetings.

The 33-year-old Affeldt went 1-2 with a 2.70 ERA in 67 appearances covering 63 1-3 innings this season for the Giants.

When the season ended, he said publicly that he wanted to stay but would not accept a one-year deal because he wanted to provide some stability for his family — he has a wife and three young sons.
