The Giants have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with free agent outfielder Pat Burrell, MLB.com reported.
The Giants signed Burrell, a Bellarmine Prep (San Jose) graduate, to a minor league deal after he was released by the Tampa Bay Rays two months into the season. He went on to hit .266 with 18 home runs and 51 RBIs for the Giants on their way to a World Series championship.
However, Burrell struggled mightily in the World Series, going 0-for-13 with 11 strikeouts.
Burrell is the third signing the Giants have made this offseason, previously re-signing first baseman Aubrey Huff and free agent shortstop Miguel Tejada.
