The Rally Thong will be staying in San Francisco for at least two more years.
Aubrey Huff, who led the Giants in runs, home runs, and RBIs during the regular season, has re-signed with the team for two more years, the franchise announced Tuesday.
After receiving little interest in the free agent market last year, Huff signed with the Giants for just $3 million before the 2010 season, a move that proved to be an epic bargain for San Francisco’s World Series-winning team.
Following the Giants’ triumph in the World Series, team officials repeatedly stated that re-signing Huff, who will turn 34 next month, was a top priority for the franchise. Terms of the two-year deal were not disclosed, although reports on MLB.com stated the deal was rumored to guarantee Huff $11 million per season.
Along with providing the team with sorely-needed offensive pop, Huff also stepped up as the team’s chief prankster (an accomplishment on a squad full of them), and gained particular notoriety for admitting that he wore his wife’s underwear to break out of a hitting slump.
While the Giants locked down Huff for two more years, free agent Juan Uribe — another key cornerstone during the team’s postseason run — remains unsigned.
