According to Washington High School athletic director Lawrence Chan, Taylan Plasch will not be returning to coach the school’s varsity football team next season.
Washington has opened the position up to San Francisco Unified School District faculty and is currently interviewing potential candidates to replace Plasch, but has not opened the position up to off-campus coaches yet.
Also a physical education teacher at Washington, Plasch was the coach at the school for just one season, in which the Eagles had a 2-7 record, finished in a fifth-place tie in the
Academic Athletic Association and missed the San Francisco Section playoffs for the first time since 2006.
He was named coach on July 9 after five-year coach Karl Finley abruptly left the program during the summer to coach at Armijo High School in Fairfield.
Plasch was formerly athletic director at Washingon from 2008-10 and he previously had assistant coaching stints at Balboa and Lincoln.
