St. Ignatius basketball team moves on to semis

St. Ignatius standouts Johnny Mrlik and Stephen Domingo led the Wildcats with 23 and 14 points, respectively, but it was eight key fourth-quarter points from senior guard Luke Papas that sparked a rally that erased a 38-33 Riordan lead heading into the fourth quarter of the CCS Division III quarterfinals.

The second-seeded Wildcats (17-9) outscored the seventh-seeded Crusaders (9-18) 27-15 in the crucial fourth quarter and advanced to the semifinals against third-seeded Burlingame (25-3), which easily dispatched Mills in their quarterfinal matchup.

On the other side of the bracket, top-seeded Sacred Heart Cathedral (21-6) handled No. 9 Jefferson (16-12) with ease in a 70-44 win.
