The Raiders signed veteran outside linebacker Kevin Burnett, the team announced Sunday.
Burnett started 16 games for the Miami Dolphins last season, when he had 80 tackles, 29 assists and 2½ sacks.
He was recently released by the Dolphins.
The move suggests the Raiders may be thinking about switching to a 3-4 defense, although they have not said they will make that change.
Burnett’s brother, Kaelin, is also a linebacker with the Raiders.
The 6-foot-3, 230-pound Kevin Burnett has played eight NFL season and has made 120 career starts.
He has 17½ career sacks.
