The Warriors’ Stephen Curry and New York’s Steve Novak, two of the top three 3-point field-goal shooters this season, will complete in the 3-Point Contest during the All-Star Saturday festivities on Feb. 16, the NBA announced Thursday.
Curry, who was not elected to the All-Star Game despite averaging 20.7 points per game, ranks No. 2 in 3-pointers, making 44.9 percent of his long-range shots, while Novak ranks third, hitting 44.4 percent of his 3-pointers.
Also in the 3-point contest is former Cal star and New Orleans Hornets forward Ryan Anderson, the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Kyrie Irving, San Antonio Spurs’ Matt Bonner and Indiana Pacers’ Paul George.
Two other Warriors will compete in the Rising Stars Challenge on Feb. 15. Second-year guard Klay Thompson and rookie forward Harrison Barnes will be members of Team Shaq in the contest which features the league’s top rookies and sophomores. Charles Barkley will coach the other team.
In the Slam Dunk contest, the Utah Jazz’s Jeremy Evans will look to defend his title. Also competing will be Eric Bledsoe (L.A. Clippers), Kenneth Fareid (Denver Nuggets), Gerald Green (Pacers), Terrence Ross (Toronto Raptors) and James White (New York Knicks).
Alicia Keys was announced for the halftime entertainment at the Feb. 17 All-Star Game in Houston.
