The City College of San Francisco men’s basketball team was dominant in the regular season en route to racking up a perfect 28-0 record. As a result, the Rams were rewarded with the top seed in the Northern California Regional of the state tournament Monday.
CCSF will open tournament play at home on Saturday at 7 p.m. against the winner of a first-round matchup between San Jose City College and De Anza College. The Rams blitzed San Jose 104-57 in the regular season, but did not face De Anza.
The team which gave CCSF its toughest test this season — Yuba, in a 72-71 game — is on the opposite side of the bracket as the No. 10 seed.
CCSF will be looking to capture it second state championship in the past three years.
The CCSF women (19-9) also reached the postseason. The Rams earned the No. 8 seed in the NorCal Regional and will open up tournament play on Friday when they host Mission at 7 p.m.
