After leading St. Mary’s to its first outright West Coast Conference regular-season title since 1989, junior guard Matthew Dellavedova was named the WCC Player of the Year on Tuesday.

Dellavedova becomes the seventh player in St. Mary’s history — and the second straight (Mickey McConnell, 2011) — to be named the conference’s top player.

A finalist for the Bob Cousy Award given annually to the nation’s top point guard, Dellavedova leads the WCC in assists per game with 6.6, while ranking third in scoring at 16.4 points per contest during WCC play.

Other Bay Area players joining Dellavedova on the All-WCC team are St. Mary’s forward Rob Jones, a former Riordan High School star, and USF’s Angelo Caloiaro.
