United States rowing went 3-for-3 on the first day of finals Tuesday at the 2012 Olympic Qualification Regatta in Lucerne, Switzerland, qualifying a host of individuals for the London Olympics, including five with Bay Area ties.

The women’s double sculls, lightweight men’s four and men’s eight won their respective finals on the Rotsee race course.

The men’s eight team is stocked with Bay Area connections.

Fromer Cal coxswain Zach Vlahos, as well as ex-Stanford rowers David Banks and Jake Cornelius helped the Americans clock a time of 5:36.11 to beat New Zealand (5:40.02) and France (5:46.35).

The Americans led from start to finish.

They were the top seed in the final after a dominating victory in the preliminary heats on Sunday.

Cal men’s crew coach Mike Teti, coach of the U.S. men’s eight, is also bound for London.
Banks and Cornelius were named to the boat’s new lineup May 1, following an arduous training camp held in Berkeley.

Lafayette native Anthony Fahden was part of the lightweight men’s four team which beat a Dutch team by 0.14 seconds.
