The start of the first stage of the Amgen Tour of California has been delayed because of unsafe weather conditions in the Lake Tahoe area, according to race organizers.
The first stage of the race, which was scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, will not start until 1:15 p.m., according to a statement from the race posted to its website.
A decision will be made at noon whether to continue with the Sunday stage. If it does start Sunday, the stage will be shorted to 50 minutes.
