Smashing Pumpkins set to rerelease classic catalog

Trending Articles

Once all those contractual snafus were ironed out, you knew it was bound to happen. Smashing Pumpkins are finally reissuing — through old imprint EMI — their classic catalog, in yearly remastered batches.

The onslaught begins Nov. 15, with deluxe versions of their ’91 debut “Gish” and ’93 breakthrough “Siamese Dream.” The series will continue on through 2012 and into 2013, culminating in a greatest hits anthology once all titles are available.

But wait — there’s more!

The Pumpkins — now consisting of Billy Corgan, backed by guitarist Jeff Schroeder, drummer Mike Byrne and bassist Nicole Fiorentino — will finally be releasing its long-promised new 13-song album proper, “Oceania,” early next year, which follows the ongoing 44-cut experiment “Teargarden By Kaleidyscope.”

To whet your appetite, they’re heading out on a 12-city fall tour, which hits Oakland’s Fox Theatre on Friday, Oct. 7. Tickets for the gig will go on sale Sunday, Aug. 21.
