A San Francisco writer was sentenced Tuesday to 72 months in federal prison on child pornography charges.

Gerard Jones, 60, pleaded guilty in April to charges of distributing and possessing child pornography.

Jones, who according to his wikipedia page has written for comics including Green Lantern, Batman and The Shadow as well as several nonfiction books, was arrested September 13, 2016.

San Francisco police said he came under suspicion after they received a tip that a social media account holder uploaded a video of suspected child pornography to a private on-line channel.

In addition to the prison sentence, Jones was also sentenced to a five-year period of supervised release. He will begin serving his sentence on Nov. 30.
