SF substitute teacher arrested in after-school ‘incident’ with student

A substitute teacher was arrested in connection with an after-school “incident” involving a high school student at a Starbucks on Wednesday, according to the San Francisco Unified School District.

Raoul Wallenberg High School Principal Cheryl Foster sent a vague message on Thursday to parents about the incident, which a parent said occurred at the Starbucks in the shopping center on Geary Boulevard and Masonic Avenue.

SFUSD spokesperson Gentle Blythe declined to provide more details about the incident and suspect, referring the San Francisco Examiner to police. Police were not immediately available to provide more information.

Foster suggested that the teacher was arrested at the high school Thursday.

“While police made the arrest, security asked teachers on the first floor hallway to draw their blinds and keep students in their classrooms,” Foster said. “Some of our students misunderstood and informed their parents that Wallenberg was in a lockdown, which was never the case.”

“Our student’s safety is our number one priority and no Wallenberg student interacted with the substitute this morning,” Foster added.
