SF State women’s soccer aims for last playoff spot

The San Francisco State University women’s soccer team is closing in on a playoff berth as it sits with two weeks remaining in sixth place, which would represent the lowest seed to enter the CCAA Championships in November. Kimber Lohman played a leading role as the Gators went 1-1 last weekend including a 4-0 win over Humboldt State. The team stands at 7-5-3 with a 4-4-2 mark in conference play.

— The SFSU men’s team is in a more precarious position, sitting four points out of the final playoff spot. Ranier Plantinos scored his fourth goal of the season in the Gators’ 1-1 tie at Sonoma State on Sunday.

— SFSU volleyball lost both its matches last weekend, falling in straight sets to Stanislaus State and Humboldt State. Haley Halpert logged 15 kills over the weekend while Danielle Ryan contributed 10 kills and 17 digs.

— The men’s and women’s cross country teams will race in the CCAA Cross Country Championships in Ontario on Saturday. The team is in its ramp-down phase of the season, so underclassmen paced the team in the Bronco Invite last Saturday, when Myha Castro set a personal best.
