The Port of San Francisco is looking for a “casual, affordable, family-friendly and appealing” restaurant to open at Pier 33.
Such are the criteria listed in the Port’s Request for Proposals that’s set to go before the Port Commission Tuesday for an informational hearing on the Pier 33 North space along the Embarcadero at Bay Street.
“The space should be inviting from the exterior with possible outdoor café dining made available,” reads a staff report on the proposal request. “Given the number of nearby
office workers and visitors, there will likely be a large market for relatively quick meals and take out.”
The new operator will be on the hook for all capital improvements, including bringing the site up to building codes.
The retail space at Pier 33 North has operated as a restaurant for more than 30 years, most recently as the Butterfly Restaurant. The space is currently vacant.
