SF police arrest suspect in connection with 13 robberies

A 64-year-old man thought to have robbed 13 San Francisco businesses over a nearly two-month period has been arrested, police announced Friday.

According to police, investigators were able to connect Lloyd Banks, a San Francisco resident, to the numerous robberies, which occurred at mostly at liquor stores, restaurants and other commercial establishments, due to his distinct appearance and his use of a silver revolver.

Police said the first robbery occurred on May 1 in the 600 block of Van Ness Avenue around 8:50 p.m.

After that, eleven more businesses in the area were allegedly targeted by Banks.

Police allege that on June 29, Banks perpetrated the 13th robbery around 6:30 p.m. in the 2300 block of 16th Street.

Officers responded to the area and arrested Banks near 18th and Bryant streets. Officers alleged they found a replica handgun on him at the time of his arrest.

Banks was arrested on suspicion of 37 felonies in connection with the robberies.
